Best Independent Bookstores In DFW

Turning the pages of a book might seem like a lost practice in relaxation, but there are still many people who engage in the art of reading and plenty of places in the DFW area where people can find some items to help them in their quest for education, enlightenment and adventure. National Read Across America Day is on March 2 and would be a perfect time to visit your favorite independent bookstore and find a new treasure.

Founded by book lovers John and Marquetta Tilton, they have shared their love for books by opening three stores in the Metroplex — Paperbacks Plus in Mesquite, Lucky Dog Books in Lockwood on Garland Road and its newest Oak Cliff location. While all three locations carry CDs, movies, 8-track and cassette tapes, and vinyl records (45s, 78s and LPs), each store is different in their inventory. Lucky Dog Bookstore also buys books from their customers and encourages recycling of once-loved books so that others may enjoy a never read before title. Lucky Dog Bookstore supports local authors and carries their books on consignment.
