Best Halloween Decorations To See Near DFW

All Hallow's Eve is upon us and some of the metroplex's favorite places are decked out to the nines. Whether you've got kids who are hankering to collect as much candy as possible or you just want to check out some lavishly spooky decor, these Halloween hot spots are guaranteed to get everyone in the spirit.

The front yard of this Halloween haunt is so elaborately tricked out that it has even been featured on HGTV's Home Strange Home. Here, you'll find everything from professional quality props and special effects to live actors trained to make your every nightmare come true. Though it's kid-friendly, the owner of this haunt likes keeping the horrors fresh from season to season. This year's theme is scary movies, so expect to run into everyone from Jason to Chucky and Freddie.

With virtually every home decked out for the occasion, it's no wonder that this Plano cul-de-sac attracts trick-or-treaters by the thousands every year. Everything is featured, from zombies to monsters to walk-throughs to grave yards. Of all the homes, the most elaborately decorated one can be found at 3404 Canterbury Court, where the yard display is so well done that it looks like it came straight off a Hollywood set. The event is free and parking is available at Plano Senior High School, near the corner of Park and Independence.

Halloween doesn't get any more spooktacular than in the historic East Dallas neighborhoods of Swiss Avenue and Munger Place where droves  of Halloween revelers pile in by the thousands. It's an unwritten rule that residents must participate, so most all of the houses are decorated to the max, and they don't skimp on the candy either. It's best to hit this neighborhood early if you want to score a sizable Halloween haul.

The couple behind this family-friendly home haunt take a classic approach to Halloween by turning their yard into an ancient cemetery, complete with elaborate props, sound effects and spooky lighting. Entrance is free, but donations (to benefit the Humane Society of North Texas) are greatly appreciated.

Offering more cheer then fear, David and Jodi Kopaniky pack their yard haunt with Halloween inflatables, lights and eerie music in order to collect canned food for the North Texas Food Bank. Trick-or-treat goers can snag candy or non-food treats, and guests get to take home a keepsake photo of the event.

Though this restaurant is a famed ghost haunt at any time of the year, it really amps up the creep factor during Halloween with everything from ghoulish decor to pumpkin patches and haunted horse drawn wagon rides. Even better, on Halloween night the restaurant will be shelling out free candy and offering corny dogs with fries for only $.50 to kids age 12 and under.
