Best Grab-&-Go Food Places In DFW

Just because you don't have much time should not mean you can't get good quality food. There are many food trucks in the Dallas-Fort worth area that have perfected fast wholesome food. There are also quite a few smaller places that still crank out food pretty quickly for those on the go. Here is a list of a great places to get your grab and go meal.

The folks at Cajun Tailgators operate a great little restaurant that has a cafe and a food truck, thus combining their catering business. You can get the food truck to come to your own special event or find out where they are located that day on their twitter feed. The truck has delicacies like crawfish pistollet, etouffee, jambala, gumbo, fried boudin balls and beignets for desert. The cafe also has these items and expands on them with more options available. The cafe is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The food truck keeps similar hours.

The truck can most often be found at the Truck Yard, a favorite place for some of the best food trucks in town. They have taken the French specialty of crepes to a whole new level. Of course you can get these pastries with fruit, but also with Nutella and bananas. Or try out their sandwiches such as the chicken artichoke or black forest ham. There is also a vegetarian crepe available. They also make their own fries with their own creative seasonings or flavors available. You may check their website to find out where they are today, but they can often be found at the Truck Yard.

The restaurant is a combination of a traditional taco stand and a restaurant. They have the regular smaller tacos with beef, pork or chicken. You can eat in your car and a car hop comes out to serve you. You may drink a beer in your car with your meal, and get a six-pack to go. Prices have also not changed much over the years. A basic hamburger is still less than $3. A grilled cheese is less than $2.

www.facebook.comSometimes you need barbecue, and getting it fast is always a plus. Meshack's is an old school barbecue stand in Garland that does barbecue right. The meat is cooked 20 hours or more, slowly and intentionally. There are the typical meats: briskett, ribs, pork, sausage and hot links. You may get a meal with fixings like baked beans or coleslaw, or a sandwich. The food is cooked slow, but it keeps well and is available fast if you are in a hurry. But you need to get there early.
