Best Golf Courses In DFW

When it comes to golfing, the DFW area has a lot of options for golfing enthusiasts and casual golfers alike. The greens are beautiful through most of the area, with amazing scenic features and some nice competitive courses with water obstructions and ongoing tree lines. Of course, the experience on the courses varies depending on the upkeep, the difficulty level and the price of the green fees. Here is a look at some of the best options for golf courses in the DFW area for varying price ranges.

Texas Outside ranks the Twin Lakes Golf Course as one of the top 10 golf courses in Texas. The course sits 55 minutes east of downtown Dallas, giving it a nice relaxing feel, out of the hustle and bustle of city noise. Trees line the fairways and there are two lakes around the course as well. There are 51 bunkers and six water carries, making this challenging for experienced golfers. Twin Lakes also offers golf lessons for newcomers. Rates are $45 during the week, $50 on Sundays and $60 on Saturdays. Those fees include a cart, GPS and taxes.

The Sugar Tree golf course is a par 70 layout on the banks of the Brazos River. The course is challenging, lined with trees as well as 13 water hazards throughout the 18 holes on the course. The Lone Star club pros voted Sugar Tree as the 18th best golf course in the entire state of Texas. It also has a four-star rating from Golf Digest. Rates to play are $39 during the week and $49 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.They also offer online specials.

The Cowboys Golf Club, in association with the NFL Dallas Cowboys football franchise, is a premiere resort-styled golf course. Unlike other courses in the DFW area, the Cowboys Golf Club caters more to corporate business and executive meetings, making it a little higher class than a typical course. It also advertises itself as the first NFL themed golf course in America. This is an 18-hole, 72-par course with four sets of tees. Because of the executive leanings, the cost is expensive with weekend rates running $179.

The Tour 18 golf course is an interesting proposition in the DFW area. Basically, this course re-creates 18 of the best golf holes in America for the course. The simulation course advertises that it exists to help people appreciate the best courses that they might not otherwise get to play. Holes included come from prestigious courses like Augusta, Firestone, Pine Valley, Southern Hills and more. Rates are $75 on weekdays, $95 on Friday through Sunday, and $44 after 3 p.m. on weekdays.

Country View Golf Club has high quality greens and ultra Bermuda grass. The course is located just south of Dallas and is a 6.544 yard course from the back tees. Avid Golfer magazine named Country View as the "Best Value Priced Course" and the "Most Improved" course in the DFW area. It also won the award for the Best Greens in DFW. The course offers some amazing online rates, many between $21 and $24 depending on the time, as well as low weekend rates between $29 and $32.
