Best Fried Chicken In DFW

Delicious fried chicken is a staple of southern comfort food. When served with sides like creamy mashed potatoes, greens, or mac and cheese, there are few things better. It's not difficult to find find fried chicken on a menu, however, if you're looking for chicken with the perfect amount of flavor that is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, that is a little more difficult. These are the top five places in DFW to find the best fried chicken.

Their mission was to share family recipes with the public. They converted what used to be a 1929 Texaco Service Station into the diner it is today. They serve all of the classic foods everyone gets comfort from in the south: mashed potatoes, green beans, yeast rolls, and their amazing fried chicken. The family has since opened many other southern-style restaurants in the area but Bubba's is the original.

Executive chef Russell Mertz and his creations definitely hit the spot when you're looking for classing southern dishes. With dishes like fried green tomatoes, mac and cheese, and chicken fried steak, you're sure to find the dish for which you're looking, which is, of course, fried chicken. The chicken fried chicken is great but the real winner is definitely the buttermilk fried chicken made with organic chicken marinated and fried until crispy on the outside but still juicy on the inside.

Homestyle dishes are served here and made with local, organic ingredients when possible. Vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free options are available but what people really come here for is the fried chicken. There are a couple of options for fried chicken here but there is one that is better than the rest, the classic fried chicken that is marinated, battered and fried to order. While the highlight of the menu is certainly the fried chicken, you will also find some other great comfort food staples such as gumbo, beef short ribs, shrimp n' grits, and bread pudding. The fried chicken is brined for 24 hours before being dredged in season flour, soaked in buttermilk and regular milk, coated in flour again and fried to perfection. Wash it all down with a great southern cocktail or with something from the Belvedere Tea Bar, which includes crystal urns filled with tea-infused punches.

The food is made from scratch and the sausage is even ground and stuffed in house. What used to be a small stand at the farmer's market is one of the very best BBQ joints in Deep Ellum. It might be easy to forget with all the delicious BBQ here that they also serve some of the best fried chicken.
