Best Free Summer Music Events In DFW

Summer is a great time to attend music events but with so many events to choose from, it can sometimes get a little pricey to attend all of the summer music events you are looking forward to. Fortunately, there are many music events taking place this summer in DFW that are completely free, so you can enjoy your favorite music without having to break the bank.

The Levitt Pavilion provides 50 free concerts every year, featuring an eclectic variety of acts from reggae to country to jazz. The series will kick off for the year on May 24 with performances by Delta Rae and Sarah Jaffe, but check it out anytime over the summer for a foot-tapping time. The pavilion is located in Founders Plaza in the heart of downtown Arlington. The seating is open on the lawn and chairs and blankets are welcome. Snacks and coolers with beverages are allowed but glass containers are prohibited. Concessions will also be available at the event.

This event brings together some of the best of DFW's producers, DJs and electronic music artists and enthusiasts. Thursday nights at Red Goose Saloon in Downtown Forth Worth, the venue offers cheap drink specials and music to dance to. Cover is free for those 21+. The lineup of DJs changes every week so you'll never have the same experience twice. There will also be residents James Nao, Teezy and Nakanna. Drink specials range from $2 domestics to $3 drink specials.

In honor of Memorial Day, Farmers Branch will be celebrating with their Farmers Branch Liberty Fest again this year. This year's music event will include Easton Corbin, Randy Houser and Jack Ingram. The event will also include a free kidzone, an arts and crafts marketplace and a burgers and brews area where you can vote on the best burger in Farmers Branch. Vendors will also be onsite and will be selling things like beer, margaritas, wine and small plates.

Every Thursday evening at the Dallas Museum of Art in the Atrium, you can enjoy live jazz music for free. Some of the greatest local musicians and jazz ensembles provide great music while you sit in the beautiful atrium and enjoy. Seats fill up quickly and are first come first serve so it might help to come a little early to make sure to get a good seat. Food and cocktails are available for purchase.

If you are in need of some ritual recharging, the Sunday night Bhajans at Kalachandji's might be the perfect music experience for you. On Sunday night, the restaurant features kirtan, or live mantra music. Bhajan is the ancient call-and-response practice from India where rhythmic singing of mantra's or names of God are sung. Kalachandji's is also a delicious vegan restaurant, so this is a great opportunity for you to enjoy a great meal while also enjoying the music.
