Best Egg Dishes Found In DFW

Whether it's breakfast, brunch or dinner, eggs are showing their sunny side on restaurant menus like never before. They're plentiful, versatile and easy to prepare, and can enhance most any savory dish. Here are a five DFW eateries that are hatching up eggs in a variety of egg-cellent ways.

Pakpao Thai
1628 Oak Lawn Ave., Suite 120
Dallas, TX 75207
(214) 749-7002

Chef Jet Tila puts an inventive spin on several egg dishes offered at Pakpao Thai's weekend brunch. One includes his wok-fried duck eggs—that come out crispy with a runny yolk center. It's served with sticky rice and a tart cucumber salad, making for a delectable combination of flavors and textures. Even better is the chiang mai sausage hash. This dish takes the wok fried eggs up a notch by adding them on top of hash made with pork sausage, lemongrass, herbs and crispy potatoes.

The Second Floor By Scott Gottlich
The Westin Galleria

Eggs feature prominently on the menu at Scott Gottlich's cozy bistro, tucked away on the second floor of the Westin hotel. For brunch and breakfast, you'll find everything from a Mexican-style eggs benedict on jalapeno cornbread with ancho chili hollandaise to biscuit sandwiches with fried eggs, pork belly and wild boar sausage gravy. Eggs also show up on the dinner and lunch menu, this time in a deliciously deviled form—with St. Pete's blue cheese, scallions, crispy pancetta and black truffle sea salt.

AF+B
2869 Crockett St.
Fort Worth, TX 76107
(817) 916- 5300
www.afandbfortworth.com

Though AF+B's chef, Jeff Harris, turns out a solid menu of upscale comfort fare, like braised lamb shanks and duck pot pies, it's his Scotch eggs that diners rave about most. Here the classic snack is elevated with a layer of chorizo and Panko bread crumbs before hitting the deep fryer for a crispy finish. Harris serves them sliced in half with oil-cured chiles and cilantro on top.

Whiskey Cake
3601 Dallas Parkway
Plano, TX 75093
(972) 993-2253
www.whiskey-cake.com

At Whiskey Cake, egg-loving foodies can order deviled eggs, burgers with eggs, fried green tomato and bacon sandwiches with eggs, and even pork belly ramen with eggs. But what really draws a crowd at brunch time are the chicken and waffles. Smoky, fried chicken tenders, sunny-side up eggs and sausage gravy form a union atop a bacon and maple syrup laced waffle for a combination that's sinfully delicious.

Harvest Kitchen
112 E. Louisiana St.
McKinney, TX 75069
(214) 726-0251
www.harvesttx.com

Chef Andrea Shackelford's farm-to-table restaurant, off McKinney's historic Chestnut Square, has an egg dish on the lunch and dinner menu that's worth the trek out, even if you live on the other side of the metroplex. The farm egg and griddled wheat is a flavorful combination consisting of a wheat cake topped with butternut squash, a sunny-side up duck egg and shiitake mushrooms. Another egg-cellent dish worth noting is Shackelford's version of deviled eggs. These come with pickled mustard seeds, pickled red onions and candied pecans, and are served in recycled egg cartons.
