Best Mountain Biking Spots In DFW

Even in the urban sprawl, Dallas and Fort Worth share plenty of mountain biking trails for the most avid cyclists. Blue beginner level trails are just as abundant as red, rowdy, professional mountain biking paths to excitement. Grab your bike and your helmet and head out to adventure on DFW trails!
Trinity River TrailsExpanding and winding like veins over the Earth, the Trinity River Trails flow through the north Texas terrain, touching on miles and miles of photo-worthy, famous Fort Worth landscapes. This extreme network of mountain biking masterpiece spans forty miles and flows through urban and natural areas, including some of the city's most famous attractions like the Fort Worth Stockyards and Japanese Gardens. Distance mountain bikers will revel in the sights and sounds of the full Fort Worth experience as they pedal past cowtown favorite sites, friendly folks and North Texas flora and fauna. A thorough trip down Trinity River Trails would outscore most city tours any day of the week.
Sansom TrailSansom's Trail, also located in Fort Worth, is comprised mostly of beginner to intermediate level loops in its main section with tangents for master riders labeled red. Over ten miles of mountain biking goodness wind through the area, allowing riders to speed past the glimmering waters of Lake Worth. A naturally beautiful way to spend a day on two wheels, trails along Fort Worth will provide the grit you crave while breathing in that fresh country air.
Rowlett Creek PreserveFor those on the east side of the metroplex, Rowlett Creek Preserve, ranks top for mountain biking. Located in a multi-use park in the northeastern suburb of Garland, this looped systems measures in at sixteen miles of varied surfaces appropriate for beginner to expert riders. Bordering creeks and plentiful greenery, there are plenty of picturesque views along its courses which traverse pieces of the 97 acre expanse of meadows and fields. While riding these trails, don't forget to observe the wildflowers, field animals, and plentiful birds that inhabit the area. The entire system of trails is about fifteen miles long with varied levels of difficulty, but if you take your time, you will be sure to love the scenery more than the skill it takes to finish the ride along this pristine creek area.

Horseshoe TrailUp north of Dallas, in the cozy and coveted city of Grapevine is the Horseshoe Trail, lies the turbulent turf you've been looking for. Twists and drops line many of the trails, sure to provide a boost to talented riders ready for adrenaline. At only about five miles in distance, the quality of the ride is the important factor at Horseshoe Trail. Night rides at Horseshoe Trail are allowed on Thursdays for those who want to try something different and even more exhilarating. Just jump on either trail head off Dove Loop Road and test your own need for speed and courage.
Boulder ParkBoulder Park is a great city mountain biking trail, snuggled in the center of Oak Cliff. Just a skip and a jump away from The Oak Cliff Nature Preserve, Boulder Park is loaded with ups and downs for those who want more of a challenge. Although most of the trails are coded blue for beginner, many of the trails here are also coded red due to the added rigor from their rockiness. Riders new to the sport are better off on loops A, B, and E, whilst Loops C, D, and the Cash Extension provide experienced riders the extra thrills they seek.
