Kate Weiser's upcoming chocolate shop, slated to open in April, is one of the most anticipated openings of 2014. Chocoholics have been following Weiser's chocolate trail ever since she was crafting up an array of stunning hand-painted chocolates during her reign as executive chocolatier at Chocolate Secrets. Weiser's forte is playing around with flavors and textures like she does with her peanut brittle bonbons, featuring a smooth peanut milk chocolate ganache blended with chunks of homemade peanut brittle. Some of her other tasty sensations include a buttery popcorn bonbon made with a white sweet corn ganache and a key lime pie bonbon filled with a white chocolate graham cracker ganache and key lime pate de fruit. Until the new shop opens, you can find Weiser's chocolates at Eatzi's, as well as Ascension Coffee—where Weiser will also be hosting a special Valentine's pop-up shop featuring an assortment of her chocolates and French macaroons February 12th through 14th.

Katherine Clapner's chocolate creations are truly one of a kind and a visit to any of her three DFW locations will leave your taste buds in ecstasy. Clapner likes to incorporate a variety of unusual ingredients into her chocolates— like porcini mushroom powder in the fungus amongus toffee and dehydrated blue cheese in the albatross fudge. While the combinations seem strange, the chocolates are outstandingly delicious and certainly different than any other confections you will find around town.

Don't let the drab strip mall location put you off because the artisan chocolates from this shop are anything but dull. Chocolatier Stacy Johnson crafts exquisite chocolate creations, making the shop a favorite stop on the Dallas by Chocolate tours. Johnson's chocolates can also be found at Neiman Marcus and Dr Delphinium. These creamy, buttery confections include flavors like key lime truffles dipped in white chocolate and sea salt caramel covered in dark chocolate. Pick out a selection of beautiful chocolates and have them packaged in one of Johnson's ornately decorated boxes to give to all of the sweethearts on your list.
