Best Bars With Free Snacks In DFW

When you're out at a bar for a while, especially during happy hour, hunger starts to creep in. A lot of bars offer a food menu, but those that offer free food are even better. Peanuts and popcorn are commonly found for free, since these salty snacks increase thirst and therefore entice customers to drink more (and therefore spend more). Free snacks, and even free appetizers, are also a marketing ploy to bring in customers that will then buy drinks. These are most common on slower nights of the week, but some are found every day. As a customer, why not take advantage? The free snacks are a bonus to enjoy while sipping at happy hour, late at night or even on a weekend afternoon. Here are some of the best DFW bars where you can enjoy free snacks.

The Mucky Duck
5064 Addison Circle
Addison, TX 75001
(972) 233-9362
www.themuckyduckbar.com

Thursdays at The Mucky Duck include a complimentary taco bar. This is more than just a snack, really. You could make it a full meal. It's served from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is free with a drink purchase. That's a pretty good deal, considering you probably already planned to buy a drink. There is also live music playing from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Mucky Duck has a sports bar/pub feel so a casual happy hour with friends fits in perfectly.

Blue Mesa Grill
1600 S. University Drive
Fort Worth, TX 76107
(817) 332-6372
www.bluemesagrill.com

Blue Mesa Grill is a full Mexican restaurant with a giant bar selection. It offers free chips and salsa and free quesadillas every weekday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There are several drink specials during this time as well, so you can't go wrong stopping in after work. Margaritas, mojitos, sangria and more are $4. The tequila bar is also something to check out. It has over 100 tequilas, fresh juices and bartenders that specialize in mixing them.

The Bottle Shop
2116 Greenville Ave.
Dallas, TX 75206
(214) 828-2873
www.wbcbottleshop.com

The best way to describe the atmosphere inside this bar is to focus on the huge beer selection displayed along and up the entire length and height of one wall. There is more than just one free snack available at The Bottle Shop. Popcorn is a frequently found free snack to munch, but a couple days a week, there are additional, more substantial foods as well. On Mondays, customers can enjoy free pizza at The Bottle Shop and on Tuesdays they can chow down on free empanadas from Empanada Armada. There's no need to go anywhere else for dinner when beer and pizza are already in one place.

Chuy's
4001 Bagpiper Way
Arlington, TX 76018
(817) 557-2489
www.chuys.com

Chuy's is a favorite dinner spot to take out-of-town guests for some Dallas Tex-Mex, and a favorite happy hour destination to take co-workers. The delicious margaritas and inexpensive margaritas are plenty of reason to go, but the happy hour includes more than just drinks. There is also a free nacho bar. It is self-serve, so it's easy to enjoy with your co-workers or Elvis. (If you haven't been, you'll understand when you go.)

The Round-Up Saloon

3912 Cedar Springs Road
Dallas, TX 75219
(214) 522-9611
www.roundupsaloon.com

The country music and dancing that plays almost around the clock at The Round-Up Saloon are enough on their own. But in addition to the line dancers and two-steppers on the dance floor, this gay country bar does have a movie theater-style popcorn machine. It pops fresh popcorn for bar patrons to munch every day. It's free and self-serve, so you can eat as much as you like. As the bar fills up later at night though, the supply starts to dwindle, so earlier on is your best bet for snacking.
