Best Bars For Cinco De Mayo In DFW

Cinco de Mayo is primarily celebrated in the United States with music, Mexican food and margaritas. The Mexican holiday comes right around the time when the weather in North Texas reaches a perfect patio temperature, making outdoor parties ideal. The right drinks, the right music, the right food and the right patio are necessary. Make sure you celebrate it right this year. There are plenty of places to find the bare essentials but only the best throw all of the ingredients together in the right mix. Here are some of the best bars and restaurants to celebrate Cinco de Mayo this year.

Mattito's
1001 MacArthur Park Drive
Las Colinas, TX 75063
(214) 379-0165
www.mattitos.com

Mattito's throws a fiesta every year for Cinco de Mayo. This year there will be a DJ, mariachis, games and, of course, drink specials. Mattito's does quite a bit of promotion for the yearly party, and the crowds show up in return, so expect a big turnout at this one. This is the party to dance to a DJ or stand amidst the crowd enjoying a margarita and people watching.

Joe T. Garcia's
2201 N. Commerce St.
Fort Worth, TX 76164
(817) 626-4356
www.joets.com

Joe T. Garcia's is possibly the most famous restaurant in Fort Worth. It's located just two blocks from the Fort Worth Stockyards, and is a world all its own. The restaurant building is actually very small, but most of the restaurant is the parking lot-sized patio that extends from the building. The menu only includes two items. In fact, there isn't a menu, just waiters to explain the food to newcomers. You can bet Cinco de Mayo will bring a crowd and with it, a line the length of the parking lot, but at least the pitchers of margaritas can be sipped while you wait.

The Blue Goose Cantina
4757 W. Park Blvd., Suite 101
Plano, TX 75093
(972) 596-8882
www.bluegoosecantina.com

The Blue Goose Cantina will offer margarita and Dos Equis specials to commemorate the day. The party will extend into the parking lot with a beer tent and live band performing on stage. Given an afternoon of nice weather, this will be a party with a lot of energy. The additional outdoor bar will help, but this is a popular party, so be prepared to stand in line for drinks if you want anything other than a beer.

Cyclone Anaya's
3211 Oak Lawn Ave.
Dallas, TX 75219
(214) 420-0030
www.cycloneanaya.com

Cyclone Anaya's is the place to go if you're looking for premium margaritas and a place to sit. Get there early though if you don't want to wait. There will also be beer specials and entertainment. Come to Cyclone Anaya's for a full dinner and to enjoy the atmosphere of an upscale Dallas Mexican restaurant.

Chuy's
4544 McKinney Ave.
Dallas, TX 75205
(214) 559-2489
www.chuys.com

Chuy's is a Mexican restaurant unlike any other. It starts with the Elvis memorabilia placed somewhere in each location. This Chuy's in the Knox/Henderson area is the original restaurant and has the original Elvis statue that started the odd trend. The sarcastic T-shirts and reasonably priced margaritas make it a favorite happy hour spot any day. Cinco de Mayo just gives another reason to eat a "big-as-your-face burrito." A bonus is that the giant garage doors will open the restaurant to the open air on a sunny Cinco de Mayo.
