Arlington Body Found Is That Of Missing Bedford Teen
BEDFORD (CBSDFW.COM) - The Tarrant County Medical Examiner has confirmed the body found in a Arlington landfill Wednesday is that of missing Bedford teen Kaytlynn Cargill.
She was last seen three days ago at a dog park inside the Oak Creek Apartments, in Bedford, where she lived. When Cargill didn't return home after 30 minutes, her parents began looking for her. Her mother later found the pet tied to a fence... but her daughter was nowhere to be found.
Her parents reported her missing to the Bedford Police Department around 8 p.m. Monday.
In a press release emailed to CBS 11 News, the police department said they "are shocked and saddened with this tragic news. We will pursue every lead, leave no stone unturned, and bring the person or persons responsible for Kaytlynn's death to justice."
Police went door-to-door Wednesday night asking neighbors if they knew anything about Cargill's disappearance. Up until Thursday, she was listed as a runway.
"What did upset me (but I know nothing about law enforcement) is why something couldn't have been done that night and the next day," said Zachary McDaniels.
A couple who lives in the same apartment complex was told police are looking for a person of interest.
Kaytlynn's cause and manner of death are still under investigation.
