Azle Town Hall Meeting To Address Earthquake Concerns
AZLE, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - Many who live in Parker County are wondering if they'll get real answers tomorrow about what's causing so many earthquakes.
The Texas Railroad Commissioner is scheduled to address residents concerns at Azle High school in a town hall meeting. Some longtime Reno residents like Michael Reaves say it's about time.
"I personally think this should have happened a long time ago, long before we had earthquakes" said Reaves.
The most recent quakes happened last month. Two in less than 24 hours, both measuring a 3.3 magnitude and located just south of Reno. There has been a total of 24 earthquakes in 47 days.
"Everybody keeps saying it's not the fracking (hydraulic fracturing) that is causing the earthquakes - it's the injecting the water back into the ground that's causing it - and if that is true I would like to know what they plan to do different to prevent these earthquakes from happening." said Reaves.
Texas railroad commissioner David Porter will host the town hall meeting on Thursday, January 2, from 5-7 p.m. at Azle High School's auditorium, 1200 Boyd Rd, Azle, TX 76020.
