DALLAS (KRLD) - Over 100 animals have been seized and dozens more are dead, all found during a raid in Balch Springs.
The home on Tamara Drive west of the LBJ was raided after someone made a complaint of animal neglect. Maura Davies with the SPCA of Texas says when authorities arrived on the scene, they found 149 neglected animals, mostly dogs and cats, as well as dozens of animals left dead in their crates.
"The (home) is covered in feces, soaked in urine. The animals were sitting next to piles and piles and piles of feces" says Davies. "This case is one of the worst I've seen in quite some time."
She says a woman does live in the two bedroom home. No word on if she will be arrested. The animals will be taken to a facility to receive treatment, with a court hearing for custody taking place on September 4th.
