Grand Prairie Man Arrested For Attempted Capital Murder In Shooting Of East Texas Deputy

HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A man who is accused of trying to murder an East Texas deputy is now in custody.

There was a manhunt Wednesday morning for Jeremy Cook, 39, of Grand Prairie after authorities said he shot a Henderson County deputy during an attempted traffic stop and then fled on a motorcycle. The shooting happened near Berryville.

The deputy was treated at the hospital and was later released. Authorities said the deputy was shot in his protective vest.

Authorities said Cook was found in a wooded area near Jacksonville, Texas in Cherokee County. He was arrested and charged with attempted capital murder.

He is currently being held without bond.
