NOCOMA (CBSDFW.COM) - Police Chief Kent Holcomb and Montague County Sheriff Paul Cunningham aren't saying who fired the shots that killed Deputy Larry Hostetter.

Tuesday Texas Rangers clarified that it was in fact a Nocoma Police officer who was responding to a disturbance call when he shot and killed Hostetter.

The deputy's children were home at the time of the shooting, but were all in a separate room and not hurt.

Since his death, those close to Hostetter have been reluctant to comment on camera, but social media has seen an outpouring of support.

Hostetter's funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, February 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cowboy Church in Henrietta.

A Facebook page is one of several online fundraisers set up to support the 41-year-old father's family. There are similar efforts on gofundme and other sites have offered to help.

One neighbor described hearing a single gunshot. Another said she heard multiple gunshots that night, but said it did not sound like an exchange of gunfire, so there are clearly a lot of details to be uncovered.
