Attorney: Woman's Handgun In Carry-on Honest Mistake
DFW AIRPORT (CBSDFW.COM) - The attorney for the 65-year-old woman who brought a gun through security in her carry-on Wednesday says it was all a mistake.
65-year-old Judith Kenney was arrested Wednesday morning when she boarded the American Airlines plane after she managed to pass through security with a .38 caliber handgun.
Her attorney, Gary Redman, says she carries the gun for protection in a computer bag and simply forgot it was in there.
Redman says Kenney forgot the gun because she was working late the night before her flight.
The incident delayed 10 flights, and the checkpoint was briefly closed.
Since DFW airport is located in both Tarrant and Dallas Counties, it has yet to be determined which County D.A. will get the case.
Kenney's attorney says he wants the case to go to the Grand Jury in either county. He believes the Grand Jury will see this as a simple mistake by a woman with no criminal history.
