Attendants' Union Cites Progress In Talks With AMR
FORT WORTH (AP) — The flight attendants' union says it has made progress in talks with American Airlines on voluntary cost-cutting measures.
The Association of Professional Flight Attendants said Friday that its president would brief the board on the results of three days of negotiations this week.
The company called the talks "productive." Neither side gave details.
If the two sides can't agree, a bankruptcy judge would rule on American's request to impose the company's terms for pay, benefits and work rules.
American is seeking long-term, cost-cutting contracts with its unions as part of a bankruptcy-reorganization plan. American and parent AMR Corp. filed for Chapter 11 protection in November after losing more than $10 billion since 2001.
