Assistant DA Honored As Search For Killers Continues
KAUFMAN COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - More than $70,000 in reward money is on the table, for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the murder case of a North Texas assistant district attorney.
Meanwhile, the Kaufman County community honored Mark Hasse Tuesday, complete with a special U.S. Honor Flag ceremony.
Attorney Cliff Couch said Hasse was, "…respected as an attorney. We are of similar vintage, and it was only fitting we stop for a moment and remember him."
Hasse was the Chief Criminal Prosecutor for Kaufman County. As the civil servant is honored the search continues for his killers.
Analysts are examining footage from virtually every surveillance camera in the town of Kaufman. They're looking for any images tied to the suspect's or the car used to flee the area.
The specialized task force dedicated to the Hasse murder includes investigators from 10 different local, state and federal agencies. But so far the team has come up with little.
People who live and work in the area say the murder is hard to cope with. "This has just been devastating to our community," Kaufman resident Linnie Booker said. "We've never had anything like this happen before, and I've lived here all of my life."
Authorities are staying with the theory that Hasse's murder was a hired hit.
Investigators continue searching for the one person, possibly two, who while wearing black clothing hid their faces and shot Hasse as he walked from a parking lot to his office last Thursday morning. An older model, Taurus-style sedan; silver or possibly brown in color may have been used during the crime.

Funeral arrangements for Mark Hasse will be held this Saturday, February 9, at the Terrell Performing Arts Center. The service begins at 2:00 p.m.
