Arson Suspected In 3 South Dallas House Fires

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Fire officials in Dallas are investigating what appears to be a string of arsons. Firefighters were on the move early Thursday morning as several blazes popped up across one part of the city.

Within just one hour, three fires broke out at separate homes in south Dallas, all near Fair Park. The first fire was reported at about 1:15 a.m. at a home located in the 3600 block of Frank Street. The second fire came about 30 minutes later in the 2700 block of Gertrude Street. And just minutes later, firefighters were called to the 3900 block of Spring Avenue for a third house fire.

All of the homes in this instance were vacant, but arson investigators remain concerned. The flames could have spread to nearby houses that were occupied, and those residents, or a firefighter, could have been seriously injured or killed.

Emergency crews were able to extinguish all of the fires quickly. There were no injuries, but arson investigators are trying to determine who could be responsible for this string of dangerous blazes. "I would urge anyone with information to call arson investigation and give us that information so we can follow up on this," said Randy Sanders with Dallas Fire-Rescue. "We need to stop these fires."
