Arson Investigators Looking Into Johnson County Fires

JOHNSON COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - Johnson County arson investigators are searching for the person/persons responsible for setting several grass fires Monday morning.

It was after 2:00 a.m. when Johnson County Sheriff's Deputies were alerted to as many as six fires between Joshua and Godley.

"The fires were extinguished with no damage or injuries to anybody… no structural damages [or] grassland," Johnson County Sheriff's Lieutenant Tim Jones explained.

All of the fires were set less than one-mile apart.

While crews were able to put the fires out, given the dry conditions investigators are worried they could have quickly gotten out of control.

According to officials, one witness saw a white 2012 Ford F-150 extended cab pickup in the area, with two men inside.

"One witness even thought from what they could see that the white pickup individual inside of it was wearing what appeared to be fireman's bunker gear," Jones said. "I'm not saying it's a fireman it just that was what it appeared to be to this person that was reporting."

Anyone with information concerning the fires or the men seen in the area is urged to contact sheriffs at (817) 556-6085.
