Armed Robbery Report Puts UTA On Lockdown

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - The University of Texas at Arlington was put on lockdown for a short time Wednesday afternoon after reports of an armed man near the college campus. The lockdown started just after noon and lasted less than an hour.

The school alerted students and staff members about a crime that was reported in the 600 block of Doug Russell Road, located in the southeast part of the campus. According to the school, a black male wearing all black clothing and a red bandana committed a robbery and was carrying a handgun.

The alert asked that North Texans, including students and faculty members, stay away from the area. During that time, anyone already on campus was advised to remain in place and take cover. The lockdown was lifted about 45 minutes after it began with no word about the suspect's location.
