ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Arlington Police are searching for a violent man who sexually assaulted a young woman - and lured her by pretending to help.

They hope surveillance video and pictures will lead them to the man who took advantage of an innocent young woman in need. She was waiting for a ride at about 4:20 on the morning on October 29th. She had lost some of her belongings. A man stopped and pretended to be a Good Samaritan.

"We never think it's a good idea to get in the car with a stranger, but this victim needed help, and she believed what he told her, that he would help her," says Detective Angie Franco with the Arlington Police Department.

Once she was in his vehicle, he threatened her with a weapon. He drove her to a dark, nearby parking lot and sexually assaulted her. She was able to run away after the attack and called 911 from a gas station.

"We're very concerned,' says Franco. "We're concerned that we have not been able to apprehend him. We do believe this person is violent, and we need him off the streets."

Investigators say they have some leads, but the best may be the short but clear surveillance video. They hope it will lead them to the suspect so he can't strike again.

"It gives us assurance that somebody out there will know who this guy is and will help us identify him and get him off the streets," Franco says.

Police say the suspect was driving a 2000-2006 white Chevrolet suburban. It had no front grill and damage to the hood and passenger side door.

Investigators have contacted other police departments, and they do not believe this man committed any other offenses at this time.

The suspect is described as a white man, heavy build with dirty blonde to brownish hair, a goatee, beard and blue eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Arlington Police Detective Angie Franco at 817-459-5352. Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward and can remain anonymous by contacting Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817-469-8477 or online.
