ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Law enforcement officials in Arlington have made an arrest in last Wednesday's shooting death of Brittany Daniel. Detectives have taken Aspen Shaquill Daron Warren into custody for murder with his initial bond set at $500,000.
Daniel was driving with a co-worker along Interstate-30 at about 7:00 p.m. last Wednesday. A swerving vehicle pulled up next to them, and the strangers inside yelled out the window at Daniel. The arrest warrant explained that Warren was the man who was driving that vehicle.
Authorities said that Warren rolled down a passenger side window, grabbed a gun and told a passenger in his car to lean back. He then allegedly fired two shots out of the window, hitting Daniel. The 26-year-old victim managed to pull over before dying at Arlington Memorial Hospital.
Police called this a case of road rage. Warren is now behind bars in the Arlington City Jail.
Two days after the shooting, police said that they received a tip which led them to Warren and the other three people inside of his vehicle. According to officials, all three passengers identified Warren as the shooter. The 20-year-old suspect was arrested on Tuesday in Fort Worth. Authorities said that he did not resist.
Daniel's family had been vowing to find their loved one's killer since her tragic shooting. "Every night, we've had a little family gathering, and it gets bigger and bigger and bigger," Brittany's father, Malcolm Daniel, said on Sunday.
The family will gather again on Wednesday for a wake. They will then celebrate Daniel's life at her funeral on Thursday. The wake will be held Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Fort Worth. The funeral is Thursday at noon at Inspiring Temple of Praise in Fort Worth.
