Good Samaritan, Father Of 3 Killed During DV Fight

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A former Marine who witnessed and tried to intervene during a domestic shooting Monday was fatally shot by an Army soldier accused in the initial altercation, Arlington police said.
It happened at a Walgreens store located in the 5600 block of New York Avenue in south Arlington shortly before noon on Monday.
The suspect was identified as Ricci Bradden. Officials said Bradden's father brought him to the DPS office in Hillsborough. Arlington police said Bradden confronted his 22-year-old wife, an employee at the store, and opened fire, hitting her in the leg. She was treated at the hospital and is recovering.
Good Samaritan, T.J. Antell attempted to intervene between Bradden and his wife. But as Bradden tried to flee from the scene in his vehicle, Antell stepped in with a gun of his own, pointing that firearm at him to try and stop him in his tracks. "The Good Samaritan tried to do the right thing and prevent the suspect from leaving," explained Lt. Christopher Cook of the Arlington Police Department. But his efforts were unsuccessful. Bradden exited from his vehicle and fired at Antell, killing him in the Walgreens parking lot. Antell's wife witnessed the whole thing. "I just can't imagine going through that," said Cook about what she saw.
"We're not even sure if the Good Samaritan even fired a round or not," Cook stated during a Monday afternoon news conference.
Many witnesses who were at the Walgreens store at the time of the shooting have remained there until they could all be interviewed by investigators.
