ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) — Arlington police said a 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the Feb. 29 shooting death of Alex Sanchez, which may have ties to a drug deal gone bad, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Police said Sunday Taajon Jabri Richardson, who is suspected of shooting Sanchez, has been arrested with assistance from the Irving Police Department.
Police said in a previous statement that a man had been found dead in the street with an apparent gunshot wound in the 6100 block of Fern Meadow Road on Feb. 29. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified that man as Sanchez, according to the affidavit.
Witnesses told police Sanchez and two other people had gone to Fern Meadow Road to buy drugs from a person known as "Rambo," who allegedly shot Sanchez, the affidavit said. The other two people fled in the car.
A witness told police "Rambo" may have shot Sanchez "due to a previous drug deal that had gone bad," the affidavit said.
Police said Richardson is currently in Irving Jail. The murder charge carries a $250,000 bond.
