Arlington PD: Man Charged With Killing Family Member
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – A 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder shortly after police found a woman in her sixties dead inside her apartment Saturday, department spokeswoman Tiara Richard said.
Police were dispatched to the apartment in the 400 block of E. Pioneer Parkway at noon on Saturday to investigate a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, Richard said they found a dead woman surrounded by family members and friends.
Investigators interviewed those on scene and discovered the suspect was a family member. Richard did not know their precise relation.
Richard said Liban Jama, 26, was found "a few blocks away" from the woman's apartment. He was arrested and charged with murder. He is jailed in Arlington with a $150,000 bail.
Richard said the woman has not been identified, nor has the Medical Examiner ruled on a conclusive cause of death. Richard did say, however, that the victim appeared to be "fatally cut."
"The actual cause of death is not yet clear, but cutting is what it is looking like based on early details," Richard said in an email.
This is the city's second homicide of the year.
