Arlington Military Family Gets A Home In Time For Christmas
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Just in time for Christmas, a wounded warrior receives the gift of a lifetime. As part of an initiative by the Military Warriors Support Foundation and Bank of America, Sgt. Tobais Green and his family walked into their brand new Arlington home, a few days before the holiday.
"When we came in the is morning and they opened the door, I almost had to pinch myself. I couldn't believe how nice it was," said Sgt. Green.
Green was injured in 2006, while serving in Iraq, by a roadside bomb. His wife also served in the military. Bank of America is giving away up to one thousand homes across the country. The Green family received the 158th home nationwide and the 64th home in Texas.
"We're very excited about doing this for our injured veterans who are returning home and entering the civilian life," said Mike Pavell, President of Bank of America, Fort Worth.
"This is not only our opportunity to reward them for the service they have provided all of us but it helps strengthen a neighborhood right in our community."
The Greens are thankful for a home they can now call their own.
"It just lets you know how many people support our troops and the organizations out there that really care about us when we come back. And they care about our services and what we do for our country," said Sgt. Green.
