Investigation At Arlington School Yields Battery Charger

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- Rankin Elementary School in Arlington was placed on lockdown Wednesday as authorities investigated a suspicious device found outside of the school.

After an investigation by the Arlington Fire Department, the device was determined to be a car battery charger.

The district originally placed the following message on their website around 9: 40 a.m.

The Arlington fire department is investigating a suspicious device outside Rankin ES. Students are being held inside until further info is available. Parents are asked to wait at St Matthew's Catholic church.

The investigation appeared to center around a trash dumpster located in the parking lot of the school. Police are helping coordinate traffic in the area and are working closely with investigators.
