Arkansas Murder Suspect Sentenced To 30 Years In Prison For Killing Garland Man

MAGNOLIA, Ark. (AP) - A Magnolia man has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of second-degree murder in the shooting death of a Southern Arkansas University football player.
The Banner-News reports that 22-year-old Byron Lavell Dunn was sentenced to 30 years in prison after entering the plea Thursday in Columbia County Circuit Court. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors reduced the charge from capital murder and dismissed a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
Dunn was charged in the August 2014 shooting death of SAU receiver Brandon Hobdy of Garland, Texas, during a party in Magnolia.
Timothy Jamarcus Johnson of Camden was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Wayne Alton Payton II of McNeill during the same incident and has since pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of terroristic threatening.
