Arguments Set In Watkins Contempt Hearing
DALLAS (AP) - An administrative judge will hear final arguments on whether a judge who cited the Dallas County district attorney for contempt of court should be removed from the case.
Regional Administrative Judge John Ovard is to hear arguments Monday in Dallas. That's after Friday testimony on whether state District Judge Lena Levario made disparaging remarks about District Attorney Craig Watkins.
Levario cited Watkins for contempt after he refused to answer questions about his office's prosecution of an oil heir for mortgage fraud. Watkins' attorneys want state District Judge Lena Levario to recuse herself from the matter or be removed, accusing her of bias against him.
Watkins could be jailed if convicted.
