Area High Schools Welcoming Food Trucks

KELLER (CBS11) – Lunch time just got a lot more fun for high schoolers in Keller ISD.
The district's response to overcrowding in their cafeterias is a new, trendy food truck that rotates throughout four high schools in the district.
Friday it was at Keller High School.
Kameron Kimble, a junior at KHS described the food truck experience as fun and exciting.
"It doesn't feel like school. It feels like a little get away to me at least," says Kimble.
The meals cost $2.75 and the menu is always changing.
School officials say the truck doesn't compete with their cafeteria operations. It just gives students a new option and alleviates the long waits in their otherwise crowded lunch lines.
The menu options are constantly monitored by the district chef and dietician.
"We still have to follow the nutritional guidelines for the national school lunch program," says McKensie Montgomery, the KISD dietician.
KISD administrators say they hope is to have more trucks at all their high schools permanently.
