Appointees Giving Back to the Governor

Governor Perry is getting a lot of campaign money from people he has appointed to boards and commissions and other state positions.

A Texans for Public Justice study shows around 21 percent of the Governor's campaign cash since he became Governor has come from people that he has appointed or would eventually appoint to state positions.  While TPJ Research Director Andrew Wheat was surprised by the high percentage he says Governor Perry isn't the first to get big dollars from appointees.  "There's no secret that Governor's before Governor Perry have appointed high contributing donors to such illustrious boards as Texas Parks and Wildlife or the UT Board of Regents."  Wheat says there just aren't the kind of campaign figures in the past to do this kind of comprehensive study and it also helps that Perry has been in office so long that there are a lot of figures in this case to track.
