DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Some Dallas residents say they're outraged after finding out a man attacked a woman in her apartment. While concerns grow about safety at the complex, police are busy trying to find the suspect.

Dallas police have only said that a sexual assault happened in the 9800 block of Summerwood Circle on October 24. Even though the attack happened several days ago, the manager at the apartment complex said she had no idea about the sexual assault until learning about it on during today's newscast.

The manager said she's troubled that she hasn't been able to warn all of the residents. It still isn't clear if the suspect lives at the complex or went there for the attack.

Dallas police say the man entered an apartment around 9:30 on that Saturday evening. Police describe him as being armed with a knife.

Investigators say the suspect made the victim do specific things that would make it difficult for detectives to collect evidence. Those types of actions have also lead police to believe the man has committed similar crimes before.

Donald Terrell lives in the area and says he's now worried about his wife's safety. "I'm really concerned about that if somebody is out doing such a thing as raping she [wife] needs to know. She's at home by herself a lot. I work for a car dealership and I stay out… she needs to know what's going on to be safe."

There is a new management team in place at the apartment complex and the employees there say safety is a priority. The manager admitted the security gate hasn't worked for a while, but said corporate has been working on getting it fixed. She said they are also in the process of assigning residents parking stickers, so apartment employees will know who lives at the complex and who doesn't.

A spokesperson with the Dallas Police Department said there is no new information in the case. When asked why residents at the apartment complex were not notified about the attack, the response was "the department has no comment."
