Another Meeting To Discuss DISD Leader's Fate

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Independent School District trustees will once again discuss the fate of Superintendent Mike Miles. He may finally learn on Monday if he will keep his job with the district. The school board has yet to decide if they will take disciplinary action against him, fire him, or simply keep him in place.

The school board has met on several occasions to discuss the outcome of an external investigation, which found that Miles violated district policy and the terms of his contract. Those discussions have been lengthy, and most have taken place in executive sessions.

Trustees have called for another board meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Monday evening.

Some community groups have called for Miles to be terminated, including the largest teacher union in the district, Alliance-AFT. They argue that Miles has not collaborated with teachers in his reforms.

But Miles also has supporters in the school district and at Dallas City Hall, including Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings. CBS 11 News sources have indicated that a majority of board members are in favor of keeping Miles.
