AMR Lands Pilot Deal With American Eagle

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - While the fate of negotiations between AMR and pilots for American Airlines remain up in the air, the company has reached a deal with pilots for regional carrier American Eagle.

In a statement Monday to CBSSDFW, AMR spokeswoman Andrea Huguely said the company was pleased with the ratification of the tentative agreement, calling it an important step in the corporation's restructuring.

The deal helps AMR save money through labor negotiations, something they have not yet been able to accomplish with pilots from American Airlines.

The Air Line Pilots Association, the union that represents American Eagle, called the agreement a major achievement to help ensure American Eagle a viable career choice for pilots.

The ratified contract will be submitted to the bankruptcy court in New York that has been handling the AMR case for final approval.

The Fort Worth-based AMR Corporation operates American Airlines and American Eagle as separate companies.  Pilots for American Eagle are represented by a different union than those that work for American Airlines.
