American Flight From Cleveland Returns Shortly After Takeoff
CLEVELAND (AP) -- American Airlines says engine trouble on a flight from Cleveland to DFW International Airport forced a plane to turn around shortly after takeoff.
American spokeswoman Andrea Huguely says the plane was carrying 139 passengers and five crew members and landed safely after returning to Cleveland on Friday afternoon. She says the airline is working to get passengers on other flights.
A spokesman for Cleveland Hopkins International Airport says one of the MD-80's two engines failed and people on the ground reported seeing a problem just after Flight 1295 left the ground.
American Airlines is based in Fort Worth. Its parent company is AMR Corp.
