American Airlines To Cut 40 Jobs At DFW Airport
DALLAS (AP) - American Airlines expects to lay off 40 cargo workers at DFW International Airport next month.
The Fort Worth based airline has linked the job losses to the company's attempt to cut spending as it restructures under bankruptcy protection.
Michael Waldron, who is American's managing director of diversity and talent development, offered details in a letter to the Texas Workforce Commission. The state agency released the letter Monday.
Waldron says 36 cargo agents and four coordinators would lose their jobs around September 21.
American in February announced plans to eliminate about 13,000 jobs worldwide. The carrier has backed away from some of those layoffs as it negotiated new contracts with labor unions.
