FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - American Airlines will be keeping its headquarters in Fort Worth. In a message to employees the carrier announced that it will build the new complex on the corner of Highway 360 and Trinity Boulevard.
American will tear down the former Sabre Holdings headquarters that currently sits at the new HQ location and will construct four buildings on the 97-acre site. Officials say the buildings will, "house the management team as well as our corporate and staff functions."
The new location will be adjacent to the AA flight academy, the training and conference center, and the newly-opened integrated operations center. Company leaders say the new location will not only serve as the central location for some 5,000 North Texas employees, but will also serve as a meeting place for all 100,000 American Airlines team members.
Groundbreaking for the new headquarters is expected to take place next spring and construction on the new buildings should be complete by the fall of 2018.
