Amber Alert Issued For Girl Taken From Cedar Hill
CEDAR HILL (CBSDFW.COM) - An Amber Alert has been issued out of Cedar Hill. Police are searching for a 12-year-old Sommer Brown.
Police believe Sommer's mother, Lisa Elizabeth Brown, took her from her father's home in the 100 block of Hannah Drive, in Cedar Hill On April 11. On the evening of April 10 police were called to the home over a custody dispute.
Corky Brown, the Public Information Officer with the Cedar Hill Police Department, said, "During the investigation, which they did all through the evening, they determined the mother might be a risk to the child's safety."
Lisa Brown does not have legal custody of her daughter and took Sommer against court orders. According to police, the woman has a history of child abuse and just this week had a court appearance to face charges of False Reporting. There was a protective order issued against Brown in 2000.
Police say they have had some contact with Brown and that she has been uncooperative and refuses to return Sommer.
Lisa Brown is a 43-year-old African American female who was last seen driving a gray-colored 2006 Ford Expedition. The SUV has the temporary license plate# - 86P 3357. Brown's last known address was at a motel in McKinney.
Sommer is an African American child, who stands 5'6" and weighs about 90 pounds. She has black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing black basketball shorts and a black tank top.
Authorities say Lisa Brown has ties in Houston and Atlanta, Georgia. The woman is employed by the Atlanta Independent School District. "Information we have says the mother may have ties to Chicago, Atlanta and Houston. But we have no reason to think that they're not still in this area. That's why we're asking the public for help," Brown explained.
Police believe Sommer is in immediate danger and are asking that anyone with information contact the Cedar Hill Police Department at (972) 230-5785.
