Amber Alert Suspect Arrested, 4-Year-Old Found Safe
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A frantic afternoon for a Fort Worth mother ended around 5 p.m. Tuesday when her 4-year-old daughter was found safe.
Fort Worth police issued an Amber Alert for the 4-year-old girl after she was abducted at about Noon Tuesday.
Police say the girl, Dasia Pinckney, was taken from the Candletree Apartments on S. Hulen Street.
The suspect, 31-year-old Charles Evereet McDonald, was arrested at a house in the 1100 block of East Baltimore Street Tuesday afternoon. McDonald is not the girl's father.
Police say at about Noon Tuesday, McDonald assaulted the girl's mother, Lakesha Brown, someplace in Fort Worth. Following the assault she went to the Candletree Apartments, and officers say McDonald followed her.
At the apartment complex, police say he attacked the woman a second time. He then got into her car and removed Dasia.
Brown's family say Tuesday's incident was over her and McDonald's recent breakup.
Police say McDonald then drove away, telling Brown, "You will have to find us."
After the girl was found safely, she was returned to her father, Walter Pinckney. He told CBS 11 "I've got so many emotions going through me right now. I don't know, just happy to have her in my arms. It's been a while since I've seen her and I'm just glad she's home and safe."
He says his daughter will be safe with him tonight.
