The woman had three children, all under 10 years of age, who were unaccounted for, triggering the Amber Alert. They were last seen at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Austin police did not find a weapon at the scene on Burton Drive, but identified the suspect in the Amber Alert and the double homicide as 31-year-old Sherles Gregorio Machado-Hernandez.

The three children were found Monday evening after being reported missing earlier that day.

Austin police said Machado-Hernandez was taken into custody in the 900 block of Fairfield Drive in North Central Austin Monday night "after an extensive search by APD patrol officers, APD Air1, APD Metro-tac, the APD Violent Crimes Task Force, APD Tactical Intel, and the Department of Public Safety."

He is being booked into the Travis County Jail.

Machado-Hernandez's relationship to the homicide victims and the three children is unknown.
