Amber Alert For Missing Denton Boy Remains In Effect

DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) -A desperate search for a four-year-old Denton boy, and the man police believe to have taken him continues Monday.

Four-year-old Richard Lara's mother was found dead Saturday. An amber alert is in effect for him.

Police are also looking for the boy's father 23-year-old Ricardo Martinez. Police believe the boy is with his father.

The boy's mother 27-year-old, Maria Isabel Romero Medina' body was found at, Sanchez Insurance and Tax, in the 1100 block of East McKinney Street Saturday evening.

Police said Medina was last seen early Friday morning and she text a family member at 4:30 pm Friday.

Detectives say the victim threatened to terminate Martinez' parental rights.

Denton PD are very concern about the safety of Richard and that his father may have left the area.

He has ties to Springfield, MO, Chicago and Mexico City.

Police said Medina often brought her son to work with her and they don't know if he witnessed his mother's death.

Denton Police said they have the assistance of Texas Rangers and the FBI, and that they are working to check and confirm all information pertaining to the death of Maria Medina and the location and welfare of Ricardo Lara.
