Amber Alert Cancelled, Denton Boy Found Safe
DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) - The 10-year-old Denton boy that was the subject of an Amber Alert Friday afternoon was found safely about two hours after the alert was issued.
Shortly before 4 p.m., police say they conducted a traffic stop near Sanger and found Jake Davis inside the vehicle.
Police say Davis had been missing since Thursday night, but was not reported missing until Friday morning.
According to police, the boy's mother and her boyfriend say they left Jake and his two younger siblings with a trusted friend, while they went out Thursday night.
The woman who was babysitting told police that another woman, 20-year-old Brandi Williams, came by around 10:30 p.m. to borrow her car, saying she wanted to make a trip to Wal-Mart. Jake apparently asked to go with Williams to get a coke and the babysitter let him. The two never returned.
Denton Police say Jake's mother and her boyfriend reported him missing early Friday morning. Jake's mother is now being questioned and CBS 11 has confirmed the other two children are in CPS custody.
Denton Police say Jake's mother and the suspect have a questionable history and officers have been trying to get information about their relationship.
"Ms. Williams has a history of drug activity and that's one reason the Amber Alert was issued," said Denton Police Officer Ryan Grelle.
County records show Williams lives in Sanger. She has previous convictions for assault and marijuana possession.
No word at this time if Williams will face any charges in connection with this incident.
