Amber Alert Canceled After Missing Teen Returns Home
DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - There are lots of questions about what happened to a Dallas teen that prompted an Amber Alert in Dallas Wednesday.
16-year-old Aron Jones came home early Thursday morning and police were talking to him most of the day. In a late afternoon statement, police said Aron Jones is okay, but it still won't say why he disappeared or whether he was the victim of a crime.
His mother wants, to know, too.
"He really didn't say much, he was like a zombie," Jacqueline Jones said, adding he just showed up at her door this morning, some 36-hours after he disappeared Tuesday afternoon. "He's shooken (sic) up, I don't know, I really can't explain it, it was just different for me this morning. At 4 o'clock in the morning it was different. And I could tell something was not right."
She said it started when she received a call at her work from Aron's phone, but someone else was on the line. "And the person on the phone said, 'Hey, I've got your son, I want your nephew, and your other son is on his way.' That was the end of the conversation. The phone hung up, I called 911, police came to my job."
According to police, it was originally handled as a runaway until a second call - this time Aron talking to his father and he said Aron was being held against his well. That's when Dallas Police upgraded it to a kidnapping and the FBI was called in.
Police even named a person they thought had taken Aron, whom they identified as 24-year-old Tarvarus Stuckey.
CBS 11 News tried his last known address in Irving but no one answered and a neighbor didn't know him.
Dallas Police confirm Aron is safe and unharmed but are revealing no other information about people reportedly involved earlier. They say they are continuing to investigate events to see if a kidnapping offense actually occurred
