Amazon Adds 7,000 Jobs, Some In Texas

NEW YORK (AP) - Amazon.com Inc. is adding 7,000 jobs nationwide -- including Texas -- beefing up staff at warehouses where it fills orders and in customer service.

Amazon will add 5,000 full-time jobs at distribution centers that currently employ about 20,000 workers.

The world's largest online retailer has been spending heavily on order fulfillment. Amazon said last week that it lost money in the second quarter, even as revenue increased.

Distribution center jobs in Texas will be available in San Antonio, Coppell and Haslet.

Warehouse jobs are also available in Arizona, Delaware, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

President Barack Obama is scheduled to visit the Chattanooga, Tenn., facility on Tuesday.
