DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - For 28 years the Trains at NorthPark have entertained visitors, both young and old.

The miniature toy trains exhibit was set up and opened to the public before Thanksgiving. It includes a wealth of locomotives that roll across tracks and journey to memorable Texas and U.S. landmarks. Visitors can ride the rails past everything from the  Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and the State Fair of Texas to New York City's Times Square, The White House, and San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.

The exhibit consists of 1,000 railcars, 1,800 feet of track, and encompasses more than 4,000 square feet of train themed environments.

A portion of the money raised from the Trains at NorthPark exhibit and sale of hand-painted railcars goes to the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. Since the first exhibit at NorthPark, more than $13 million has been raised.

In all, more than 2,000 volunteers will help run the trains, sell tickets, and greet visitors.

The Trains at NorthPark exhibit runs through Sunday, January 3, 2016 and is located on Level Two next to Nordstrom.
