Adrian Beltre Played 2nd Half Of Season With Torn Thumb Ligament

ARLINGTON (The Fan) - During a press conference on Friday afternoon, Rangers President and General Manager Jon Daniels along with manager Jeff Banister, admitted that Adrian Beltre played the second half of the season with a torn left thumb ligament. They also said that Colby Lewis was pitching through a torn meniscus in his right knee.
Among the other topics of discussion from the press conference was the disappointing end to the Rangers season on Thursday. "The way things ended for us...The feeling...I'll let that fuel me in the off-season to make us better."
Another item to address is the psyche of Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus, and how he can improve from the debacle that took place in the bottom of the 7th inning when he committed two of the Rangers three errors. "(It was) A kick in the gut for all of us. Things happen. Elvis will come out better for it," said Banister. "He wants to compete, loves to compete. Elvis responded to every challenge we presented to him. As an athlete and a competitor. Elvis is going to utilize that game as the power to drive him to be more of an elite player."
When asked what the team expects to do in the off season, Jon Daniels said "there are no glaring holes to fill," and that the core of the team is already here.
Daniels said he expects Yu Darvish to be ready in mid-May, while also saying that former Rangers' top prospect Jurickson Profar will DH in the Arizona fall league.
Texas mutually decided to part ways with their bullpen coach Andy Hawkins as well as hitting coach Dave Magadan on Friday.
