Addison Man Pleads Guilty In Child Porn Case
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A 56-year-old Addison man has pled guilty to a felony charge of transportation of child pornography, according to a release by the U.S. Department of Justice.
If the Court accepts the plea, Guy Martin Johnson will receive a sentence of 144 months in prison and be subject to a maximum fine of $250,000 and a lifetime of supervised release.
According to documents filed in the case, Johnson first came under investigation in January 2012 as part of an undercover investigation in Florida aimed at targeting individuals who prey on children using popular social media sites.
As part of the investigation, an undercover officer entered a chat room and posed as a mother who had a son interested in sex with an adult male. That same day, Johnson contacted the "mother" and continued to communicate with the "mother" for several days.
After expressing his interest in having sex with the 14-year-old, Johnson sent the "mother", via the internet, 21 images depicting the sexual exploitation of minors. Though Johnson had discussed traveling to Florida to meet the "mother's" son, he never did.
The Dallas Police Department's Crimes Against Children task force executed a search warrant at Johnson's home in May. An analysis of a seized computer revealed 149 images and two videos containing child pornography.
Johnson admitted to having the chat with someone in Florida, but claimed it was all fantasy. He later admitted to distributing the images to the Florida "mother", which included minors engaged in bondage and other sadistic acts.
Sentencing is set for February 17, 2013, before U.S. District Judge Sam A. Lindsay.
The investigation is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
