Accused Fort Worth 'Amber Alert' Mom Back In Texas
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Three weeks after allegedly kidnapping her daughter from their home in north Fort Worth, Kimberly Smith is back in North Texas.
Kimberly Smith was at the center of an Amber Alert involving her 11-year-old daughter, Jessica.
The mother and daughter were located near Tres Piedras, by New Mexico State police officers.
Police allege that Smith kidnapped her daughter from their home, after assaulting her on the evening of February 6. Details in Kimberly Smith's arrest warrant stated that on that evening, a relative broke into a room in the Smith home after hearing a struggle between Jessica and Kimberly.
The report also stated Kimberly had tried to lock Jessica in a closet after gagging her mouth with a rag. The relative told police after Jessica broke free, Kimberly held her on the bed because she was 'just loving on' Jessica.
There had also been allegations that Kimberly Smith might suffer from a mental illness and had threatened to commit suicide and hurt her children.
Fort Worth police worked to extradite Kimberly Smith back to Texas on two felony warrants.

As it stands, Kimberly Smith remains in the Tarrant County Corrections Center on $75,000 bond. She's charged with aggravated kidnapping.
Kimberly Smith's next criminal court is scheduled for February 29.
